Franco-American composer and clarinetist, Carol Robinson has a multifaceted musical life. Equally at ease in the classical and experimental realms, she performs in major concert halls and festivals the world over. In addition to working closely with other composers, she pursues the new in more alternative contexts, collaborating with choreographers, video artists, sculptors, photographers, and musicians from varied horizons. Author of over sixty pieces, she began composing by writing for music theater productions, subsequently receiving commissions for concert pieces, installations, radio, dance and film productions. Her works are performed primarily in Europe and have been recorded by Radio France, the Hessischer Rundfunk, Saarlandischer Rundfunk, Lithuanian National Radio and and released on PLUSH, AYLER, SHIIIN, MODE and Expérience de vol. Other releases include solo monograph recordings of music by Giacinto Scelsi, Morton Feldman, Luigi Nono, and Luciano Berio for MODE, Phill Niblock for TOUCH, Éliane Radigue for shiiin as well as classical and improvised music for SYRIUS, BTL and NATO. Carol Robinson was born in the United States and graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory. After receiving an H.H. Woolley grant to study contemporary music in Paris, she settled in France.
