An exchange program for graduate student composers from UC Berkeley and France will continue for the upcoming academic year. [http://cnmat.berkeley.edu/people/evelyn_ficarra|Evelyn Ficarra], a student in the graduate program in composition in the Department of Music at UC Berkeley, will be in residence in Nice, France from October through December of 2008. A French student composer will be coming to UC Berkeley in the spring of 2009.

The partner institutions – CNMAT, [http://www.cirm-manca.org/|CIRM], [http://www.cnr-nice.org/|Conservatoire National de Région de Nice], and [http://portail.unice.fr/jahia/jsp/index.jsp|Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis] – have developed an ongoing commitment to work together to provide research, training and performance opportunities for students, faculty and researchers. Our program was initiated under a grant from [http://www.facecouncil.org/|FACE (French-American Cultural Exchange)], a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting contemporary creative work in the context of French-American cultural and educational exchange.
